Addison Rae’s Current Style Is One Long Audition for a Y2K Movie About a Dancer With a Dream

As her stardom continues to evolve, Addison Rae has stylistically oscillated from pop diva to true character play: A Swan Lake meets Las Vegas showgirl look for the 2024 MTV VMAs, a snow-white Chloé bodysuit from Chemena Kamali’s spring 2025 collection that gave Sugar Plum Fairy, a mermaid-inspired Thom Browne look for the CFDAs. Using archival fashion and the depths of a Y2K hashtagged Depop scroll, she and her stylist Dara Allen bolster bolder and bolder looks.

In the last few weeks, Addison Rae has been doing some fantasy method dressing: This time, it seems, as if she’s auditioning for an early ’00s movie about a down and out, young, beautiful dancer with a dream who, despite circumstance, never needs to outfit repeat.

The “Aquamarine” singer stepped out for a meal at All Times in Studio City, California, wearing an ultra-mini pleated blue ra-ra skirt and a cropped denim jean jacket. She accessorized with blue knee-high ribbed socks, tan suede boots, and oversized white-framed sunglasses. Plus, two bouncy bouquets of flowers.

Earlier in the week, Rae was also photographed in Los Feliz out for an early breakfast stop-off, wearing a black, tucked-up crop top and a similarly short-short, teal ra-ra skirt, with neon pink legwarmers, and white sneakers. The bellybutton piercing added to the ’00s dance school vibe.

Rae is no stranger to the ins and outs of a dancer’s uniform: When it’s not a Chloé bodysuit for some figure skater-esque fashion, it’s an actual ballet dancer-approved Grishko leotard. These recent dual looks incorporate Rae’s more wacky sartorial leanings too: A chaotic hodge podge of nostalgic colors and shapes, with kitschy graphics and accessories.

The singer is currently teasing her next release, “High Fashion.” She posted a video to her website, dancing around to Madonna’s “Inside of Me” holding up images of the visuals for the forthcoming song.

So is she making a case for a Britney biopic? A Honey reboot? The chaotic pop diva wardrobe keeps us guessing.
