Has singer Billie Eilish finally ditched her long, dark black hair? Not so fast. Tonight, as Eilish walked the red carpet for the 2025 Grammys, she appeared to have chopped her elbow-skimming lengths and finally joined Team Bob (aka the hottest haircut of 2024, and likely 2025, too).
But the chop is a bit misleading—or maybe, the best of both worlds? Let's look at the facts. Just a few days ago, Eilish and her brother Finneas performed at the FIREAID Benefit Concert For California Fire Relief and this is where she seemed to have debuted a new hairdo.
Known by a few different names, like the “jellyfish cut” or a step-cut mullet, the haircut involves a lot of different layers (sometimes cut blunt, like Eilish's, other times blended into more of soft shape) to give a lot of movement and body. It's a grown-out version of the wolf cut.
For tonight, Eilish wore head-to-toe Prada—including the sailor's hat—and accessorized with some chewing gum. When the star turned to the side, the myth of a bob was disproven: most of her longer strands were wrapped into a neat bun and pinned to the nape of her neck. But it's the face-framing pieces of hair (cut at a blunt length) that give the cool allusion of a bob, no commitment needed. Best of both worlds, indeed.
