Angela Bassett collabed on this.

And when Miss Angela Bassett drops a product,

you pay attention.

Hey Vogue, it's Yara and this is what I take when I travel.

[upbeat music]

As a recent college graduate,

backpacks have been a staple for me.

Freshman year, I actually would wear two backpacks

on the front and back, I hate to admit.

But this has been my all-time favorite backpack,

so much so that I have one on standby

for when I wear this out, which is inevitable.

Let me start with something that I'm sure you expect,

my notebook.

I tried to take inspiration from how 16-year-old Yara

would journal and actually put items in here.

So here's my backstage pass from the Steve Lacy concert

we got to see in Paris, which was incredible.

I wish I could say that I journal consistently,

but when I do, I try and make the most of it.

I have all sorts of little gadgets and things in here.

I obviously travel with a book.

This book I have tried reading multiple times,

so who knows how long this book will be with me.

It has unintentionally become a travel essential.

This is really random, veggie wash.

Recently people have been sharing videos

of all sorts of little creepy crawlies

that are coming outta their strawberries.

And as someone that loves fresh fruit,

I like to keep my own veggie wash on me.

I think this proves I over pack.

Thank you notes.

Oftentimes when I travel it's for work,

and we have these incredible experiences,

and many talented people came together to make it happen.

And so we like to carry thank you notes on us.

And I think it's a nice way of reflecting on the trip.

Yes, I have that big old journal,

but there's something really special

about thinking about who is integral to your experiences

that thank you notes make you reflect on.

Honestly, I think my favorite travel memories

is the fact that we still travel as a family all the time.

It's full circle 'cause my bubba, my father,

used to take us on his work trips,

and so I think what's been nice

is that we get to do the same with my work trips.

In this pouch is quite a few objects.

I'm gonna start with essential oils.

For me, traveling with perfume,

at least, for short trips or in your carry-on can be hard,

but essential oils just always really last,

and it doesn't take too much product.

You know when like people Axe body spray

the whole place down.

That won't be you.

Then going to lip products,

I'm gonna start with Rouge Dior 505,

which happens to be the name

of my favorite Arctic Monkey song,

and what a beautiful shade.

Alex Turner was really onto something.

But truly my lifesaver,

the one I refer to the most is this tub of Vaseline.

The only reason I have these lipsticks in my bag

is because I also have this Vaseline in my bag to rehydrate.

Then Mielle peppermint hair oil.

This is one that I think a lot of people are familiar with.

'Cause I remember how big of a deal it was

when like Target and other places would have curly hair care

because we've only recently seen those offerings expand

in these big stores.

And then in the skincare world,

I love my little Barbara Sturm hyaluronic acid,

but this is in the darker skin tones line.

So I use that and I pair it with my stainless steel guasha.

What I like about stainless steel,

when you're thinking about travel especially,

is that it's antibacterial.

This is my UE Boom.

Anyone that knows me knows that I love my music,

I feel like it makes a moment.

And so I love having a speaker with me.

Right now I'm playing a lot of Sampha.

Timmy's Prayer is my favorite.

Let me see, I have my phone on me.

What's on my most played?

I take voice memos of every concert.

So this is Frank Chela.

That was Willow, she was incredible.

Dominic Fike, Rosalia.

The audio is great and you can hear the audience,

and there's something about that ambience

that just teleports me back to that exact moment.

So obviously after Coachella,

all I was listening to were my voice notes.

Oh, scented matches.

My friend put me on scented matches.

Remember when potpourri was the thing

and it just dropped in stores?

I say that to say scented matches

became that new way of setting the tone in your space.

Okay, my tea, I am half Iranian,

and because of that it means that I really didn't grow up

as a coffee drinker, I'm a black tea drinker,

and I particularly love Sadaf Cardamom Tea.

I think there's something that's so soothing about it.

When I'm thinking about small ways

where I can make myself feel comfortable in spaces

that I'm not necessarily used to,

it's the little touches that make me feel

like I have ownership over my space,

like I'm supposed to be in there.

So this is my Krispy Kreme hat.

I got this at Coachella recently because on our drive

from Palm Springs to the grounds,

I said, no way, that's a Krispy Kreme.

Took a mental note.

Then we made sure that we left the grounds early enough

to go back while the Hot Light was on,

because my friend hadn't gone to experience

a Hot Light Krispy Kreme donut.

But this recently became my favorite hat

when I realized I had matching shoes.

I call these the Krispy Kreme 200s.

I travel very casually.

And so these touches, again, just make me feel like myself.

My dream destination right now is Marrakesh, Morocco.

Really anywhere in Morocco.

But every single time I'm in conversation with friends,

people that we've just met,

Morocco always comes up as just a destination

that's changed people's lives,

changed their perspective on culture and travel.

And so I really wanna go to Marrakesh.

Really wanna go to Portugal, Tokyo.

All right, Vogue, thanks for sticking with me

while I walk you through everything I bring on my travels.

And it's perfect, I'm all packed for my flight tonight.
