A great pair of jeans will never go out of style. Denim’s rugged versatility makes it easy to wear all year round and in almost any environment—there’s a reason designers continue to innovate on the staple season after season. On the spring 2025 runways, we saw denim spun into fresh silhouettes and washes, from oversized shapes to romantic pastel washes.

An overarching theme of the season points to comfort and ease—turning away from the super skinnies seen last fall at Miu Miu and toward slouchier, or even exaggerated, styles. At Alaïa, Pieter Mulier presented voluminous acid-wash denim that edged closer to the proportions of a full skirt. Bottega Veneta, too, showed soft, loose denim pants that draped and puddled on the floor. At Gucci, Sacai, and Valentino, baggy boyfriend-esque shapes were on offer, while JW Anderson showed swinging denim shorts with a cocoon-like, cropped leather jacket. Chemena Kamali similarly paired a cropped cape-inspired trench coat with ultra-high-rise pink jeans.
Whether you’re looking for wearable interpretations of the spring runway collections, or want to push the envelope with new spring trends, our edit below has ample inspiration for both. After all, you can never have too much denim.
Balance Sculptural Forms a Fitted Top
This Alaïa look is all about contrast—pair baggy jeans on the bottom with something tiny on the top for a surprisingly balanced look.
Contrast Tuxedo Stripes With Everyday Basics
Your classic jeans, trench, and T-shirt get a twist here with slightly flared patchwork pants and an extra-long oversized coat.
Double Up on Denim
For spring, Sacai gave us a version of a polished Canadian tuxedo: a cropped jacket paired with low-rise cuffed jeans featured an exaggerated belt (a denim trend numerous brands are standing behind this season). A fitted jacket on top adds a smart, city-ready finish.
Commit to the Bit With Ultra-Relaxed Shapes
In this look, Jonathan Anderson makes his case for a new transitional silhouette, where a cropped leather jacket meets denim shorts and combat boots.
Dark-Wash Jeans Always Lend an Air of Gravitas
At Jil Sander, super stiff, dark jeans are paired with a playful top and pointy boots for a bit of extra attitude.
Welcome New Shades
Chemena Kamali put her feminine touch on jeans this season, showing them in soft pink and pairing them with a cropped, cape-like trench.
Vertical Seams Give a Tailored Finish
The denim at Bally this season was slightly more structured, with piping down the front and a straighter leg. Recreate the look with a statement buckle belt and red sweater—V-neck or cardigan, either work, just tuck it in.
Decorative Trims Add a Retro Touch
Valentino’s take on denim was a play in opposites, pairing patterned-trimmed jeans with a crimped polka-dot top and ballet flats.
When in Doubt—the Bigger, the Better
Matthieu Blazy leaned into everything oversized at Bottega Veneta, showing fluid, trouser-like denim with a big plaid shirt and extra-large shopper.
