New York Fashion Week is, quite frankly, a luxurious chaos. Yet amidst the hustle and bustle of designers, celebrities, and socialites, Stella McCartney highlighted what the week is really about: fashion. In collaboration with Adidas, the eponymous label launched its new Rasant sneaker. With a cosmopolitan, contemporary flair, guests gathered at Stella McCartney's Soho flagship to celebrate the new shoe.
“I put the original version of this shoe, the Monza, in my first runway show, which ultimately led to my long-term collaboration with Adidas,” McCartney tells Vogue. “It was time to bring that silhouette back in a new way, completely unisex and crafted without leather – using vegan, recycled, and organic innovations instead. The Rasant is the perfect harmony of sporty and sexy, and the reaction has been incredible.”
The blend of fashion and sport was reflected in the guest list itself. Models Alex Consani, Martha Hunt, and Lila Moss stood next to professional football players Sam Hartman and Elliot Donald. Ella Emhoff and Tinx mingled with Victoria Britto and Leni Klum. The store was filled to the brim, with fluorescents beaming down on the buzzing scene.
Vegan burgers complemented the vegan footwear, a thread of sustainability woven through the evening. The lively room swayed to the beats of DJ Zuri Marley, and Soho's cobblestone streets shook with the pulse of the crowd. “I’m half American. My mum was a New Yorker, so this city is literally in my blood,” the designer says.
